Happenings... Or ... My Life Lately

Listening to... my white noise machine. It has worked to block out extra noises and I sleep more soundly. Tonight's sound? A waterfall. I have downloaded a couple of different apps for my cell phone and have used it in hotel rooms. Sooo nice.

Thankful for... electricity. When we came home from church Sunday, the garage doors wouldn't open. We discovered about half the electricity in our house was out. Including the refrigerator. Hubby came to the rescue and bought bags of ice and we put everything in coolers. I tossed some food, but didn't loose much, thankfully. Monday, Hubby called an electrician and he determined that the outage was caused by something underground. Cue the Utility Company. They showed up within a half an hour and started digging. In the neighbor's yard. Yikes. But all was fixed within two hours! Electricity is nice. We took a freshly baked loaf of Swedish Rye Bread to the neighbors last night to apologize for the hole dug in their yard. They were very sweet and gracious.

Enjoying...the house coming together more and more. Just a little more decorating areas to tackle. The hubby and I sorted through all our books and got rid of quite a few. Some we will donate to a thrift store and lots that were in bad shape or quite out of date went into the trash. The hubby spent a long evening organizing and putting the books on the bookshelves.

In the kitchen... is part of a loaf of rye bread I made the other day. The recipe is from my grandma and when it was baking it smelled like my mom's kitchen.

Sewing... nothing. I think my sewing room is going to be the last one I get in order. Then I have a list: shorten a shower curtain, make a valence out of towels (I hope my idea works...), make other valences if I find fabric I like, and get going on quilting.

Reading... Friendship for Grown-ups by Lisa Whelchel. This has been on my nightstand for a couple of months. I'm slowly working my way through it.

Striving for... a merry heart. Still.

Praying for... a job for my son in his field. He's a darn good writer/reporter. The rotten economy isn't helping the job situation for him at all.

In the CD player today... Kari Jobe. I love her voice and the songs on the CD are so encouraging and focus on praising God.

Watching... shows I have recorded on our DVR. I know I'm a bit behind, but that DVR thing? It's pretty cool. Way better than the old VCR method. The DVR can do so many things like record more than one show at once, pause live TV, and not use pesky giant VHS tapes.

Just Finished Reading... To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I actually had never read that and bought it on a whim when I forgot to bring a book with me to a hair appointment. It is a really very good book. I plan on renting the movie soon.

Studying... Believing God by Beth Moore with my hubby. Yay for online videos! It's a great study.

Looking forward to... seeing our kids. But that's several weeks away before we head south.

Outside my window... a beautiful cornfield close to being harvested and gorgeous sunsets almost every night.

Pondering these words...   You never change, but You changed me
You have no needs, but You want me

                                            Everything in You is enough.
                                            You dwell between the cherubim
Yet in my heart You have come in
Cleansed but not consumed by Your fire.
You are life and yet You died,
that I might live as I abide.
Now Your resurrected life is mine.

From my picture journal... some silly pictures of my hubby from our trip last summer.

Can you tell he really wanted the shirt? (Not!)
Cheesy touristy photo-op.

How can he live in MN and not have a wolf shirt? My in-laws have a wolf scene and a "loons on the lake" scene (large) that we will probably inherit. Hmmmmm...
I "like" electricity too.
