I actually keep forgetting I have a blog....

It's gotta be because of:

1. My laptop is under the care of the Geek doctors. Sad. Sad. Sad. I need to call those Geeks and find out what's up. I miss my baby.

2. I have been up to my armpits in boxes.

Nothing like coming out of the bedroom in the morning to the faint smell of cardboard. Ugh.

Yesterday some friends from our former town came and helped unpack several boxes. That was a HUGE help. And it was wonderful to see someone I actually know.

I have been feeling pretty good about getting rid of things. I purged my closet the other day and had quite a pile of clothes to get rid of. I've been sorting through kitchen items as well. I'm trying to keep in mind if I haven't used it or worn it for years, I probably won't. Next pile to tackle is all the plastic-ware. Yikes. I seriously had a problem a few years ago. :) I'll keep the necessaries and give away the rest. Well, the ones that look good enough to give away. We learned many years ago that the things we "donate" to whatever charity or thrift store needs to actually be usable and in good condition. I have a set of dishes that I am getting rid off and I sorted through and threw away the plates and bowls that were chipped and cracked.

So, this has been my life....

I do have a few things coming up to look forward to. I'll save those for another post. Gripping, I know.

Random Thoughts on Moving

We are into day two after everything was unloaded in our new town. I have accumulated some random thoughts about moving. Enjoy (?) the brain dump:

*I wish moving automatically involved everything would be dusted. I was embarrassed at the amount of dust that is behind the books on the book shelves and on the silk plants.

*I have an amazing husband who lets me leave the house when the chaos ensues. Coffee shops are great places to hang out.

*Last summer the movie UP came out. It's about a couple growing old together and the dreams they had. Caleb and Amanda saw it and cried several times throughout it. They are in the stage of life of just starting out and dreaming big. We saw Toy Story 3. It's about Andy, the owner of the Toys getting ready to go off to college. The scene where Andy and his mom go into his room and it's basically empty..... Oh. My. Not the recommended movie when one is packing up the house to move and packing up "kids" rooms for the last time. Ever.

*We have a lot of stuff. I see a lot of full trash cans in out future. It's funny how I can just forget we even owned certain things.

*I own a LOT of dishes. I think the hubby counted 27 or so boxes of dishes. I may or may not have a problem.

*I am strangely looking forward to unpacking boxes and sorting through everything. But ask me this in another week or two and see if I am ready to scream if I look at another box.

 *It's not a good thing to have my laptop decide not to work. At least the antique desktop woirks. S-l-o-w-l-y.

*So no pictures until it is fixed.

Happy Father's Day to my sweetheart. Without you I could never have had the best job I have ever had. Being a mom. It's been a wonderful 23 years with you as my partner in parenthood. Those two kids of ours are pretty darn lucky.

Moving On...

Getting ready to move makes blogging slow.

I'll entertain you with a couple of pictures.

We closed on our new house yesterday. I'd like to say I loaded the plants in my car, but in reality it was  the newly married couple who did most of the work. (Thanks, you two!)

After we signed and signed and signed and signed (my hand was cramping) our names for the new house, we got the keys and we took the plants and left them at the new place.

The movers come on Monday.

**SIGH**

Don't Try This at Home

In preparation for our move, I've been trying to use up the food we have in the freezer. I had two items I thought I would combine. A frozen pie crust and two cups of shredded zucchini. I searched around on the Internet until I found a recipe I thought sounded good.

A Zucchini Quiche. Perfect!

It would use up some of the eggs I have on hand as well. The recipe also called for a herbed mayonnaise I thought sounded really good. After I mixed all the ingredients together, I was having second thoughts.

I was right to have second thoughts. It was awful. 

It tasted like baked mayonnaise with Swiss cheese and a little garlic. We both tried a couple of bites and oh, how I wish I had a picture of my hubby's face! We were laughing so hard, the tears started coming.

So this is what we did next:

We headed to the grocery store to find Plan B.

Yeah for PFChang's frozen meals. It was much better.

I love to try new recipes and I'm not afraid to try them when we have company. The quiche is one meal I'm glad I didn't try for company.

But we sure had a good laugh tonight.

It Was an Epic Weekend

I am down to my last load of laundry. I am quite weary of hauling laundry around, especially the wet loads. After one more load, I will be caught up with laundry from the wedding week. Only my husband and I have this nasty habit of wearing clothes and getting more clothes dirty. SIGH.

Okay enough of the whining.

Last week was quite epic. We knew things were underway when the Groom, Zach, picked up one of his groomsmen from the airport. After getting his passport with the visa granted two days before, the groomsman flew in from Thailand! We all enjoyed getting to know him and he even liked my cooking. He wrote on my Facebook wall "your foods are awesome." I think I will quote him often. :)

Friday we finished up the decorations. The Bride was happy.

Friday evening was filled with rehearsal, dinner and a bonfire.

Have I ever said how happy I am my new son-in-law is a terrific cook? Look at this pork he smoked for the rehearsal dinner:

I wonder where the leftovers are? Yummm!

Zach's mom brought the fixings for S'mores. But they weren't any normal, boring S'mores. She did have the traditional Hershey bars, but she also had different flavors of Ghiradelli chocolate squares! Mmmm.

Saturday morning brought rain and a pretty sick Bride. She was on day three of a nasty cold. But she was filled with such grace and peace the whole day. That all added to the fact that she was a stunning bride.

I will just finish this off with several pictures from the day. It's hard to put into words all the emotions I felt that day. But I will say that sheer joy for Zach and Megan was at the top of the list.

A Sneak Peek

Here's just something to wet your appetites for pictures of our daughter's wedding.

I need to get out from under the mountain of laundry that accumulated after having 10 wonderful, fun people at our house. And that is a smidge of a challenge when I don't have a functioning washing machine at home. I haul a load of wash to the laundry-mat and bring it home to dry since the dryer still works.

The Day Before

I just haven't gotten on here like I thought I might. We have 10 people sleeping here, so I guess I'm busy feeding people and stuff.

Today we were busy with decorating the reception sight and with rehearsal. I won't say a lot about it now, but below are a couple of photos to give my readers an idea of what's to come.

No Pictures

I didn't take pictures of anything today. I should have.

The hubby and I picked up 41 white tablecloths and a bunch of table skirts. The garage is getting full of all sorts of things to decorate the church and mostly the reception sight. There are Christmas lights, tealights, glass bowls, floating candles, round paper lantern globes, greenery, 32 purple table runners (hemmed by the slightly nuts MOB), and probably a few more things I don't remember right now. Friday will be a busy day of decorating for sure!

This afternoon the daughter and I headed out to get pedicures. Twice. For some unknown reason, this MOB brain of mine wrote down the wrong time. I was off by 1 1/2 hours! Sheesh. (my hairstylist who owns the salon, is so patient with me getting times wrong...) When we finally got there at the right time, we enjoyed a wonderful three hours together getting pampered. Another of those moments I will treasure. Daughter got a lovely shade of pink painted on her toes to go with her gorgeous purple wedding shoes. I got my favorite shade of red. Our feet are ready for the wedding.

Tomorrow I will work at getting my camera out.

Another Day Closer

Another day closer to Saturday!

There were a few more things accomplished today. I went to the grocery store today and bought more food than I have bought in a very long time. I even managed to dodge the rain.

I don't know how well you can see the plant on the left. It's kind of yellowy and brown. We bought a couple of months ago it for decorating at the church for the wedding. It didn't make it. Enter plant on the right. Prettier green and healthier looking. We bought it only four days before the wedding so it will still look good on Saturday. Hopefully these will make it and Megan and Zach can have some nice house plants.

Tomorrow things start picking up some more with more wedding prep and more people arriving!
