How Deep the Father's Love for Us

Sunday I sang on the worship team at church. We sang this song right before communion. It moved me to tears. I thought I would post the words.

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
(REPEAT)

AMEN!! Thank you, God, for your vast, deep love for me. Thank you, Jesus, for paying my ransom. Thank you for seeing me, a wretch, as your treasure.

Judy - Thanks for your comment on my blog - so I hopped over to yours. Although I should be doing german homework.
I do remember your comments re: the Davids. They are wonderful and I am hoping to join them on a worship missions trip in Hungary this next Oct. Really praying it works out - some logistics issues re: kids, hubby and school Fall Break.
Most of my husband's family is in Minnesota as well. Before we got married I said "please don't ever make me move to MN (after my 1st freezing Thanksgiving visit in Frazee - I was a CA girl). But I was pretty close living in Des Moines - and loved it.
Anyway - thanks for your comments again and I pray God has a wonderful day in store for you! Susan
