The Wedding of Awesomeness

Sorry it's taken me several days to get around to this. Saturday night after the wedding I hit a wall of sheer exhaustion and have yet to get over it.

The wedding was beautiful. Caleb was so excited and Amanda couldn't have been more gorgeous!

The pastor's wife told us that God was glorified and Caleb & Amanda were honored. I'd say that makes it a perfect wedding.

Following are a bunch of pictures. I didn't get very many good ones. Thanks to my sister, Beth, for most of these pictures.

Here is our new family of 5:

Amanda and her cousins who were The Most Adorable Flower Girls Ever. Amanda told me she couldn't stop smiling all day.

Awww.... They love each other. I think this is one of my favorites.

But they will forever be brother and sister. Gotta love it.

The Maid of Honor and Best Man with the bride and groom.

Lindsey and Evelyn doing a great job of walking down the aisle.

Amanda's dad escorting her to her groom. She was so happy the tears were almost there.

We sang some awesome worship songs. I love the words to this song. I love that Caleb & Amanda want Christ as the center of their lives.

The kiss!

The HAPPY Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Sommerville.

The reception was outside the church in this tent. We borrowed the tent from some friends of ours in our church and our Small Group Bible Study.

What was going on in the basement during the receiving line. They were all busy getting things ready for the reception. What goofy guys!

They are SO happy.

Caleb wore these shoes for high school graduation, college graduation, and now his wedding reception. What a goofy guy.

Gotta include a picture of my beautiful daughter and her boyfriend, Zach. Aren't they a cute couple?

We had sparklers to celebrate the 4th of July and to send the bride and groom off to. They had some fun with them too.

What was in our hotel room Saturday night thanks to my brother-in-law and dad. We delivered all this to Caleb & Amanda's apartment Sunday.

Wedding Eve

Caleb and Amanda's wedding rehearsal went very smoothly. The rehearsal dinner was great. Our friends Dan, Cheryl, Mike and Jen fixed the whole meal for us and served it and cleaned up. They are WONDERFUL friends. But I forgot to take a picture of them tonight. They were moving too fast to get a picture of the four of them together.

Pretty sure one of my favorite memories was the surprise my husband threw in. After the rehearsal was done and before we headed to the dinner, Peter sat down at the piano and told Amanda and Caleb he had a gift for them from the parents. (The other three of us didn't know anything about this. He started playing and I knew after two or three measures what he was playing and singing.

How to Say Goodbye.

I bawled. Watch the video. You'll cry. I love Peter for doing that. It was a sweet gift.

Below are a few pictures from the rehearsal and the dinner.

We shared a neat slide show Megan put together using pictures of Caleb and Amanda growing up and current pictures. It was set to the song The Best Thing by Relient K.

We had some time to share memories and thoughts. I told Amanda that it was a privilege to finally be able to meet her after having prayed for her for over 20 years. (We have been praying for our children's spouses since they were tiny, not even knowing who they would be.) And I thanked her for making my boy happy.

I cried. She cried.

Tomorrow's the big day. (Or as Caleb calls it: The Wedding of Awesomeness.)

Oh man.

What Step Was I On? Four?

Today was pretty busy. After lunch we did our mega-grocery-shopping-trip for the rehearsal dinner. The menu is Taco Bar. There was lots of food, but it was a great trip with these two fun ladies. They are the best.

Meanwhile... back at the church...

The men were busy setting up the tent for the reception.
The tent looks great.

It's gonna be a fun weekend!

Breaking News....

We had a visitor to our hotel this morning:

He and his friends left this in the lobby:

And this out front:
Yep, the fire alarms went off this morning. Fortunately I was awake. The reason was a problem with the sprinkler system. This is the front desk. Can you see the water dripping from the ceiling? I think they are having tough morning.
It's been such an exciting week with the wedding coming up and all. Just what we needed to add to it. It really wasn't a huge deal, but oh so blog worthy. I asked Pete to come back up to our room so I could take pictures for the blog. :) (He went after we were told it was okay to.)

Step Three

Today had little to do with wedding prep. Oh, unless you count getting our good friends down here who are helping a bunch with the rehearsal and the tent for the reception. As soon as they heard the date of the wedding, they scoped out the fact that the Twins were playing the Royals in Kansas City this week. They just happen to be big Twins fans and we are big Royals fans. Treating them to a game was the least we could do for them in return.

Kaufman Stadium is very pretty and it was a nice day. My dear husband found us great seats IN THE SHADE! I was so happy.

I wished this T-shirt came smaller than a mens large. I would have so bought it for Megan. (Her boyfriend's name is Zach.)

We'll just not talk about the score.
