My mother cured me of the "you know" phrase when I was a teenager by saying, "No, I don't know" every time I said that. It was annoying to be interrupted in my rambling, so I learned to not say it. Smart mom.
I admit I have a hard time listening to people talk who use too many words. Sometimes others just ramble without saying anything new, repeating basically the same thoughts over and over. Other times extra words are thrown in that are just not necessary. I came across this video that sums it all up, ya know, perfectly.
